The Herdsman SCC can be used to monitor suspect cows, select cows for mastitis treatment, or for cow selection at drying off time. Early stages of mastitis are sub-clinical meaning no visual indications - making it very difficult for a farmer to detect cows that are infected. The Herdsman SCC uses technology to diagnose and provide an accurate reading of the somatic cell count in the milk, giving farmers a visual indicator of the level of infection instantly.

Current methods of measuring the SCC or somatic cell count in milk is by sending a sample to a laboratory, or installing fully automated equipment with large capital outlay. which is both inconvenient and
time-consuming. The Herdsman SCC provides farmers with the ability to check for
sub-clinical mastitis in the shed at cow-side and have results in seconds. Fully automated mastitis equipment is too expensive for the general market. Herdsman SCC is an inexpensive tool for simple and direct measurement of SCC right at cow-side. The Herdsman SCC is a handheld sensor you will always keep within reach of your dairy farm milking staff. The Herdsman SCC is affordable for every dairy farmer, and a must have on the farm!

Charging your Herdsman SCC has never been easier. No need to replace batteries or have expensive maintenance contracts! The Herdsman SCC has a long battery life, allowing you to do up to 300 tests on a fully charged battery. When not in use, your Herdsman SCC charges on it's stand, so it's always ready to go when you need it.

An interchangeable CMT reagent cannister twists and locks onto the base of your device and is removed for charging. Return your empty cannisters to us, and we'll supply you with fresh cannisters for your Herdsman at a discounted price.

Mastitis is a major problem in dairy herds worldwide and causes reduced production, loss of milk quality and ultimately loss of income for farmers.

The Herdsman SCC is a new hand-held sensor that dairy farmers can use in the shed for detection of sub-clinical mastitis, enabling them to manage the health of their animals and assisting them in drying-off treatment decisions.

We are currently looking for expressions of interest in such a product, test farmers, and for further investment to fully commercialise this technology.
